Racist computers: Fact and fiction

A recent episode of one of my favorite shows of all time, Better off Ted, was about how the mainframe computer that controlled all the features of the corporate office complex didn’t see black people. For example, it would open doors when a white person walked up to it, but not a black person. Same with water fountains. If a white and black person were sitting in a room and the white person got up and left, the computer would turn off the lights. It was a very funny episode. Truly.
